ThyssenKrupp Elevator shines in landmark public sector projects in China

As a major player in China’s market, ThyssenKrupp Elevator (China) was recently awarded a series of landmark orders in the public sector. These successes further enhance ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s image in both product quality and contribution to a greener environment.

21 elevators for Wuxi Grand Theatre

In Wuxi, 21 elevators will be installed in its new Grand Theatre, including 7 high performance elevators and 14 machine roomless elevators.

Jointly designed by the famous Finnish architects, Pekka Salminen Architects, and Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Design (Group), Wuxi Grand Theatre stands at the south bank of Li Hu Lake in southwestern Wuxi. The wing-shaped theatre, which looks like a dragonfly resting on the lake with outstretched wings, finely complements the nearby Li Hu Bridge. Upon completion in 2011, the Theatre will open to the public with a 1700-seat large-scale opera theatre and a 700-seat multifunctional hall for various cultural activities and art performances such as drama, ballet, concerts, fashion shows and other major events.

24 escalators for Shenyang Exhibition Center

In Shenyang, Liaoning Province, ThyssenKrupp Elevator (China) will supply 24 units of Tugela escalators for the Shenyang Exhibition Center, which will be the largest exhibition complex in northeast China. To embody its design concept of environmental protection and energy conservation, all building materials used will be environmentally–friendly and energy-efficient.

21 escalators for Jinzhou Wanbo International Sports & Culture Exhibition Center and Jinzhou International Business Hotel

Also in Liaoning Province, ThyssenKrupp Elevator will supply 13 Tugela escalators to the Jinzhou Wanbo International Sports & Culture Exhibition Center, and 8 Velino escalators to Jinzhou International Business Hotel, for which the company had previously also supplied 19 elevators. With a height of 208 meters (43 floors above ground and 2 floors underground), the luxurious super-five-star Jinzhou International Business Hotel will be the tallest building in the city of Jinzhou.

12 elevators and 6 escalators for Hubei Provincial Library New Building

In Wuhan, 18 units of ThyssenKrupp Elevator equipment, including 12 elevators and 6 Velino escalators, will be installed in the Hubei Provincial Library New Building. Facing the Shahu Lake, the new building will be a model project as the first example of a low-carbon and energy-efficient building in Wuhan. It is scheduled to open by October 2011.

Due to the rising trend towards green architectural designs and environmentally-friendly buildings, some of the latest energy management systems and measures are employed in these prestigious projects to ensure sustainable development. In response to the green requirements, the ThyssenKrupp Elevator transportation systems incorporated in these projects encompass many green features including low energy consumption, minimum space requirement, highly efficient and eco-friendly lubrication-free gearless machines for the elevators, and an energy-saving device to reduce the running speed of the escalators to “creeping mode” when no passengers are on board.

The Elevator Technology business area brings together the ThyssenKrupp Group's global activities in passenger transportation systems. With 42,500 employees, sales of 5.3 billion Euros in fiscal 2008/2009 and customers in 150 countries, ThyssenKrupp Elevator is one of the world's leading elevator companies.
